Speaker  Bio: Jennifer Dowell, CPO earned a B.S. in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Washington in 1990.  She spent the first 10 years of her practice in traditional clinical care before specializing in the development, testing and instruction of CAD/CAM  technology for the O&P industry.  Jennifer has extensive experience with two of the leading CAD systems in the market. She is the OMEGA Research Clinician for Ohio Willow Wood.

MWA-3 Charleston Bending Brace Certification Workshop Part 1

Abstract:
Receive your certification to order the Charleston Bending Brace by attending this one day workshop.  You will learn to measure, evaluate x-rays, blueprint x-rays, and determine curve type and brace type.  Each participant will be expected to evaluate and blueprint at least two x-rays by the end of the course.  Each participant will learn the indications and contraindications for the use of the CBB with various curve types.  Both morning and afternoon sessions are mandatory.

MWA-7 Providence Scoliosis Systems

Abstract: This program addresses the basic elements involved with orthotic intervention in the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and an option in the clinical treatment of juvenile, congenital and neuromuscular scoliosis.  The practitoner will become knowledgeable in teh treatment standards and goals associated wiht the Providence Scoliosis Systme to cease the progression of scoliotic curves.  The intent of this program is to train the practitioner in radiographic evaluation of scoliosis orthoic design and measuring for this nocturnal system.  The goal is to increase the awaremess of the practitioner to this style of scoliosis bracing, using force application of over correction, casting techniques, etc. to understand and utilize these principles in the daily practice of scoliosis spinal care.  Course content includes didatic lecture, Power Point presentation and hands on demonstration. Analyzation of x-rays, measuring and fitting techniques will also be demonstrated.
